Wimbledon Pumpkin Patch – Getting Into the Spirit of Autumn

Is there anything more wholesome than a visit to a pumpkin patch?

I think not.

It’s got to be the ultimate autumn activity, and it’s something I’ve always wanted to try my hand at, so I headed to Wimbledon Pumpkin Patch.

Living in London rather than the countryside, however, it’s never really been an activity on offer. But this year, I started seeing signs pop up in my village centre, pointing towards a pumpkin picking patch…

Hoorah! How could I not go?

VISITING Wimbledon Pumpkin Patch

I roped in my friend and fellow blogger, Anna of No More Overwhelm Today, and we joined the hoards of like-minded individuals families with small children at Wimbledon Pumpkin Picking Patch in South West London.

I should clarify that this wasn’t your typical pumpkin patch where you pick your gourds from an idyllic country farm… This was a fenced-off area of Wimbledon Park where hundreds (perhaps thousands) of field-grown pumpkins had been scattered.

Oh, London…

Faux patch aside, it was a fun – and yes, wholesome – experience. I couldn’t help but think of my nephews across the pond who would have loved it. It was muddy, there was tonnes of space to run around, and there were cute children’s activities dotted throughout.

We grabbed a wheelbarrow and set out to find child-free spots to take photos, so we didn’t look like creepers.

We did take some pumpkins away with us but as we were walking, we each settled for a few small pumpkins for decorating and a medium pumpkin for eating (roast pumpkin is a dream).
