I love a good smoothie. I usually tend to opt for fruity flavours but this time, I went in a slightly different direction. I concocted a tasty coffee-based alternative: a vegan banana mocha smoothie.
Inspired by my recent discovery of cold brew coffee, this smoothie combines healthy fruit, a caffeine boost, and a cheeky chocolate twist for the perfect quick-and-easy breakfast.
I went with hazelnut milk for this recipe as it is lovely and creamy and has a sweet, chocolatey flavour, which works perfectly with this smoothie. However, you can use any dairy-free milk of your choice.
Frozen fruit is perfect for cold, refreshing smoothies but if you don’t have any to hand, add a few ice cubes to the smoothie mix.
Banana-Mocha Breakfast Smoothie
Serves 1
Ingredients
1 large banana, sliced & frozen
500ml hazelnut milk
2 shots cold brew coffee (or 2 shots strong black coffee)
1 tablespoon cacao powder
4-5 ice cubes (optional)
Method
Add all ingredients to blender and blend on high until smooth.
Pour into large glass to serve. Sprinkle with cacao powder if desired.
Yum!! I need to try this!
🙂 Hope you like it!
This sounds really good. I bet that hazelnut milk takes it to the next level!
Thanks! I definitely think the hazelnut milk “makes” this. I like most non-dairy milks but hazelnut has the perfect sweet, creamy taste for this smoothie. 🙂
Yummy! I can’t do hazelnut, but the rest sounds dellish!
Thanks! I tried it with a couple of different milks and hazelnut was my fave but could easily be swapped out 🙂
Looks really yummy! Will definitely try this after I could get over from this taste tantalizing green drink…check it out powergreenjuices.com if you are green inside.
Thanks! Hope you like it.
This looks super delicious 🙂 can’t go wrong with a breakfast smoothie!!!
Thanks! I agree – massive breakfast smoothie fan. 😀
