Vanilla Black had been at the top of my ‘must-try’ list of London’s vegetarian eateries for a very long time. A friend’s birthday (and subsequent birthday gift voucher) was finally excuse enough to visit the high-end restaurant that boasts prices a little heftier than those of my usual hang-outs.
I’m always on the hunt for new eco-friendly and animal-friendly beauty products to try out. And when I find something I like, I do enjoy a good rave about it.
The Brighton VegfestUK was held last weekend at the Brighton Centre. The annual event features vegan brands, societies, performers and advocates from all over the country in one giant centre of animal-friendly fun. I headed down with a friend on the Sunday to check it out.

The first time I went to Brighton a couple of years back (which incidentally was for my first ever Vegfest), I really wanted to dine at the well-renowned and award-winning vegetarian restaurant Food for Friends; sadly, it was completely booked out. I guess that’s what happens when you try to go the weekend a vegan festival is in town…
If you’re anything like me, you love a good food festival. And when they are exclusively veggie or vegan, it’s even better!
I made my second visit to the delightful Tanya’s Café at the weekend.
Winter vegetables like potatoes and parsnips were made to be roasted. And on nights when I am craving a big, hearty, homely plate of vegetables, this herby roast vegetable dish really hits the spot.
I am a bit of a nachos snob. If you put chips on a plate and top it with a smidgen of microwave-melted cheese, salsa and sour cream and call it nachos, I will scoff at the use of the term. Nachos, even vegan nachos, need to be indulgent and loaded with goodness.
Bruges is a city full of stunning architecture, beautiful canals and quaint chocolate shops. Bruges is not, however, a city full of vegetarian food…
