I love a good smoothie. Though I usually tend to opt for fruity flavours, this time I went in a slightly different direction and concocted a tasty coffee-based alternative.
Inspired by my recent discovery of cold brew coffee, this smoothie combines healthy fruit, a caffeine boost, and a cheeky chocolate twist for the perfect quick-and-easy breakfast.
I went with hazelnut milk for this recipe as it lovely and creamy and has a sweet, chocolatey flavour so it works perfectly with this smoothie. However, you can of course use any milk of your choice.
Frozen fruit is perfect for cold, refreshing smoothies but if you don’t have any to hand, add a few ice cubes to the smoothie mix.
Banana-Mocha Breakfast Smoothie
1 large banana, sliced and frozen
500ml hazelnut milk
2 shots cold brew coffee (or 2 shots strong black coffee)
1 tablespoon cacao powder
4-5 ice cubes (optional)
Add all ingredients to blender and blend on high until smooth.
Pour into large glass to serve and sprinkle with cacao powder if desired.
